The EPA’s top lawyer, Matthew Z. Leopold, is leaving the agency after a nearly three-year stint and a mixed record in the courtroom.
“I want to thank Matt for his tireless efforts to advance the Trump administration’s environmental agenda these last few years,” agency chief Andrew Wheeler said in a statement Thursday.
Leopold will leave the EPA in the next two weeks to work in private practice in the Washington, D.C., area, though he didn’t specify where. Principal deputy general counsel David Fotouhi will serve as acting general counsel.
