EPA Further Extends Deadlines for Oil, Gas Methane Standards

The EPA is giving oil and gas companies even more time to comply with a Biden-era rule intended to reduce methane and other harmful air pollution from oil and natural gas operations.

The Environmental Protection Agency released Wednesday a final rule extending by 180 days certain monitoring requirements and performance tests for flares and enclosed combustion devices.

The agency also gave oil and natural gas owners and operators an additional 360 days to submit mandated annual reports.
