The US Environmental Protection Agency has ammended the cleanup plan for the Cosden Chemical Coatings Corp superfund site in Beverly, N.J. to accommodate a new technology, according to EPA Friday.
The new treatment method, in-situ oxidation, will use oxidizing chemicals to break down hazardous contaminants into less toxic byproducts found in groundwater, said the agency.
The cleanup plan will require long-term monitoring to ensure it works as intended, EPA said.
