The EPA has developed a plan to quickly deploy the $50 million made available under the Covid-19 stimulus package for low-income communities of color, the agency announced Friday.
Of the funding amount, $16.7 million will be used to fund environmental justice grants and $7 million will fund electric school buses, the Environmental Protection Agency said. An additional $5.1 million will strengthen monitoring near low-income communities and drinking water sources for possible civil and criminal enforcement.
That funding also will support environmental justice analyses on oil and gas production and refining, as well as support for environmental crime victim outreach.
