EPA Ends More Chlorpyrifos Uses Even as Court Vacates Rule (1)

The EPA announced further restrictions of pesticides containing chlorpyrifos just a day after a federal court vacated a regulation that had banned the pesticide’s uses on food crops.

The Environmental Protection Agency said it will cancel food-related uses of the pesticide that companies voluntarily asked the agency to end.

That leaves Gharda Chemicals International Inc. as the last pesticide manufacturer to retain a registration, essentially an EPA license to use, chlorpyrifos on food crops. The agency sought last year to cancel those uses, but Gharda is fighting administratively to retain them.
