LyondellBasell Industries N.V. has agreed to an amendment to its consent decree with the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Justice to address air pollution at its Illinois chemical plant, the EPA announced Monday.
Lyondell will pay a $324,000 civil penalty and install a fenceline monitoring system as well as instruments and monitoring systems for high combustion efficiency at the flares, according to the agency.
