EPA Cuts Limits on Lead-Paint Dust for Homes, Some Buildings (2)

Landlords, renovators, schools, and day care facilities dealing with lead-paint contaminated properties face tougher cleanup standards under a final rule to protect children the EPA released Thursday.

The Environmental Protection Agency released a final rule (RIN: 2070-AK91) acknowledging that any amount of lead-paint dust in homes and buildings where children live, learn, and play is unsafe. The rule also reduces the levels of dust with lead that can remain on floors, windowsills, and window troughs in target housing and buildings following lead-paint abatement projects.
