The EPA on Thursday called on the public to weigh in on how it plans to implement a $100 million grant funding opportunity for companies to create labels showing their products’ carbon contents.
The program is meant to define what constitutes a clean construction material and has been compared to the nutrition labels on food packages.
By helping manufacturers create the labels, known as environmental product declarations (EPDs), the Biden administration is hoping to make it easier for builders to buy materials that have lower carbon emissions throughout their life cycle.
