EPA Approves Texas Plan to Regulate Wastewater From Fracking

Texas is shifting which state agency will oversee and enforce the release of treated oil and gas wastewater, after the EPA on Friday approved Friday a state plan over the objections of environmental groups.

The Environmental Protection Agency signed off on a plan to delegate authority to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, or TCEQ, which allows the agency to take over oversight of the discharges of wastewater from oil and gas drilling from the Texas Railroad Commission.
