EPA Announces Final $1 Billion to Clean Up Hazardous Waste Sites

EPA on Tuesday unleashed its last tranche of infrastructure law funding to clean up nationwide Superfund sites contaminated with hazardous waste.

The $1 billion third wave will go toward remediating more than 100 sites containing toxic chemicals from manufacturing facilities, processing plants, landfills, and more, according to a statement from the Environmental Protection Agency.

“This final round of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding has made it possible for EPA to initiate clean ups at every single Superfund site where construction work is ready to begin,” EPA Deputy Administrator Janet McCabe said in the statement.
