EPA Sued, First Time Under TSCA, for Chemical Risk Findings

The EPA violated the nation’s primary chemicals law by ignoring certain health risks of a dangerous solvent, leading to a false conclusion that some of its uses are acceptable, a coalition of groups said in a petition filed Thursday in the Ninth Circuit.

Neighbors For Environmental Justice; New Jersey Work Environment Council; Sierra Club; the United Steelworkers Union, and the Natural Resources Defense Council are asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to review the EPA’s final risk evaluation for methylene chloride.
