Environmentalists to Sue Talen Energy Brunner Plant Over Toxic Water

Talen Energy Corp.’s Brunner Island Steam Electric Station in Pennsylvania is under fire again, this time from four environmental groups that say the plant is polluting the Susquehanna River and its tributaries.

The coal- and natural gas-fired plant in York County is violating the Clean Water Act by dumping coal ash and wastewater in the river without a permit and allowing toxins from ponds to leach into the groundwater, the groups said in a notice of intent to sue dated Aug. 29.

Talen Energy representatives didn’t immediately respond to a Bloomberg Environment email seeking comment.
