Environmentalists Challenge 88 Energy Drilling Venture in Alaska

Environmental groups have filed a lawsuit challenging another oil drilling venture in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, after previous litigation stalled work on the nearby ConocoPhillips Inc. Willow project.

• The lawsuit, filed in an Alaska-based federal district court by the Sierra Club, Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace Inc., takes aim at the Interior Department’s approval of the Peregrine exploratory drilling program mounted by an 88 Energy Ltd. subsidiary in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska
