The U.S. Bureau of Land Management should have studied the impact on a nearby wilderness study area of a bridge replacement project in Utah, a federal court in the state ruled in a win for an environmental group.
The original bridge was built by covering an old pickup truck with rocks, wood, and dirt, and it enabled drivers to cross a gorge in Kane County, near the Arizona border. About 80% of the bridge collapsed in 2019, and the county later proposed to install a steel bridge with guardrails in its place.
