Environmental Law Firm Prepares Action Against Shell Directors

An environmental law firm on Tuesday said it will start legal action against the Shell Plc’s board of directors, in an attempt to hold them personally liable for their failure to properly prepare for the energy transition.

ClientEarth notified Shell, in its capacity as a shareholder, that it will pursue a claim in London against 13 executive and non-executive directors. The group says that the case will be the first seeking to hold directors of an oil and gas major personally responsible over their mismanagement of climate risk.
