Environmentalists firmly rejected the Trump administration’s plan for dealing with legacy coal ash, saying Friday the move will lead to more pollution.
The EPA’s plan, which would give power plants and other coal ash facilities more time to comply with reporting rules set by the Biden administration, is widely seen as an extension of the White House’s goal of spurring the coal sector.
One speaker after another denounced the idea during an online public hearing hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency, calling it a dangerous idea that exposes people to toxic contamination and can be easily remedied.
