Entergy New Orleans Fined $5 Million in Paid Actors Scandal

Entergy New Orleans LLC, the city’s monopoly electric provider, was fined $5 million and sanctioned by the city council for using actors to speak at public hearings in support of a proposed $210 million power plant.

The sanctions included a requirement to provide mandatory ethics training for executives. The council will review and approve a code of conduct that will be developed by the company. Entergy New Orleans also must pay the city for the cost of the investigation.
