Eni Plant Manager Arrested in Val D’Agri Oil Spill Investigation

A plant manager with the Italian oil and gas giant Eni SpA has been arrested in connection with a 2017 oil leak that contaminated soil and groundwater in the southern region of Basilicata.

Enrico Trovato is accused of environmental crimes for failing to take proper action to remedy the leak at the Val d’Agri oil and gas facility in the province of Potenza, the Italian Ministry for the Environment said in a statement on April 23.
