EnerSys, Honeywell Sued for Cleanup at New Jersey Superfund Site

The federal government is suing a plethora of industrial companies—including NL Industries Inc., EnerSys Delaware Inc., and Honeywell International Inc.—to recover over $32.3 million in cleanup costs at a Superfund site in Middlesex County, N.J.

The 23 companies named in the suit filed Wednesday are accused of either dumping lead, battery casing, and other waste, or of acquiring an entity that used the site for dumping. The state’s Department of Environmental Protection and Spill Compensation Fund are also plaintiffs in the case filed in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
