The Senate voted 46-43 to confirm Kyle Haustveit as the Department of Energy’s undersecretary of energy.
Haustveit, a former petroleum engineer, will now lead a division that invests in domestic energy infrastructure, which includes offices focused on electricity, nuclear energy, energy financing, and energy security. He is currently serving as the assistant secretary for the Office of Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy, which is within the division he will now oversee.
Wells Griffith served in the undersecretary role last year.
Haustveit’s confirmation was part of a tranche of 49 nominees the Senate approved Monday afternoon.
