Energy Regulators Approve New Gas Projects Over Clements Dissent

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission voted 2-1 on Thursday to authorize the construction of three natural gas expansion projects, with the dissenting member arguing they fell short of the law.

The projects approved were relatively small. El Paso Natural Gas Co., a unit of Kinder Morgan Inc., won approval to install a nearly two-mile 30-inch-diameter pipeline extension in Hudspeth County, Texas.

Southwest Gas Corp. is allowed to pursue an expansion project that involves about 3.4 miles of upsized or looped pipeline segments across three counties in Nevada.
