The Energy Department finally has an official leader of its portfolio of projects, roughly a year and a half since passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law.
The US Senate voted 56 to 43 on Wednesday to confirm David Crane to serve as the department’s first-ever under secretary for infrastructure, where he will oversee clean energy programs that received about $62 billion from the November 2021 law.
- Crane, who has been serving as director of the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, was previously CEO of NRG and served on the boards of multiple energy and manufacturing corporations and climate nonprofits.
