Energy Department Adds AI Experience to New Science Committee

The Energy Department on Tuesday named the chair and members of the newly established Office of Science Advisory Committee, a group aimed at providing “independent advice on complex scientific and technical challenges,” according to the department.

The 21-person entity includes members with artificial intelligence experience, such as William Dally of NVIDIA, Michael Mahoney who works on AI research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, and Pushmeet Kohli of Google’s DeepMind AI research lab.
