US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm defended the Biden administration’s approval of a massive ConocoPhillips oil drilling project in Alaska, arguing that fossil fuels are still needed even as the president seeks to reach net carbon neutrality by mid-century.
“We are going through a managed transition,” Granholm said Tuesday on Bloomberg Television’s “Balance of Power. “We still have to allow people to get from place to place affordably and turn on the lights.”
