ENERGY BRIEFING: SEC Climate Disclosure Proposal Draws GOP Ire

The Biden administration wants the Securities and Exchange Commission to require companies to disclose information about their greenhouse gas emissions, a proposal endorsed in a report released today by the Center for American Progress.

The proponents contend that mandatory and uniform standards for reporting the information would increase transparency for investors and mitigate the risk that climate change poses to the financial system.
