Enbridge Pipeline Replacement Project Approval Draws Lawsuit (1)

The Army Corps of Engineers ignored the significant environmental effects of Enbridge Energy LP’s planned pipeline replacement in Minnesota when it approved the project, according to a lawsuit filed in Washington, D.C., federal court.

The lawsuit filed by the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, the Sierra Club, and two other groups in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia seeks to block construction on the $2.6 billion Line 3 project.

Enbridge plans to replace about 338 miles in Minnesota with a pipeline that will carry oil from the tar sands region in Canada to the U.S.
