Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Friday that she is revoking the easement for Enbridge Inc.'s use of pipelines across the lake beds in the Straits of Mackinac, a step that will shutdown the oil and gas lines by May.
The step fulfills a campaign promise from the first-term Democrat that she would “shut down Line 5,” the 65-year-old dual pipelines that traverse the lake floor between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
