Wisconsin’s Public Service Commission should deny an Enbridge Energy LP request to condemn property needed to build a replacement segment of an aging oil pipeline, environmentalists said on Thursday.
Enbridge asked the commission in a February filing for permission to build a new segment of its line 5, and the commission this month agreed to look into it through an investigation. The commission must determine that it’s in the public interest for the energy company to acquire by condemnation permanent and temporary property easements for the line.
