Emperor Penguin Protections in U.S. Overdue, Lawsuit Claims (1)

The Interior Department has violated the Endangered Species Act by not responding to a 2011 request to add emperor penguins to the endangered species list, a new lawsuit against the department alleges.

The Center for Biological Diversity, a nature conservancy nonprofit, filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in for the District of Columbia on July 31.
