Emerging Pathogen Guidance for Disinfectants Tweaked

A guidance document instructing disinfectant makers on what they can and cannot say about their products during an outbreak has been finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency after some last-minute modifications. The document lays out the marketing claims these companies can make while a new pathogen is spreading.

The EPA developed this guidance in an attempt to avoid the confusion that occurred during the recent Ebola virus outbreak, when disinfectant makers were unsure if they could market their products as being effective at killing the virus.
