More government support is needed to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, industry and state representatives plan to tell Congress.

Automakers, charging companies, and states are ramping up their electric-vehicle efforts, and need federal support such as tax credits and stronger supply chains with more money for domestic manufacturing, witnesses will say at a Tuesday hearing. The recent infrastructure law (Public Law 117-58) includes about $7.5 billion for electric-vehicle charging, but stakeholders say it’s only one step toward what is needed to meet the Biden administration’s goals.
