EEX Discusses Extension of Trading Hours for Power Futures (1)

The world’s largest power exchange is in talks about an earlier morning start to trading in German futures, a key benchmark, in a move that could benefit its rapidly growing client base in Japan.

“That’s a discussion we’re having with all market participants at the moment — whether it would make sense to start these markets earlier,” said Peter Reitz, chief executive officer of European Energy Exchange AG, citing rising demand from Japan in particular.
