EBay Accused of Selling Polluting Aftermarket Automobile Parts

The Environmental Protection Agency sued global online marketplace eBay Inc. on Wednesday alleging it sold harmful chemicals, pesticides, and high-emission car parts in violation of several federal laws.

From January 2017 to September 2020, eBay allegedly sold or offered for sale at least 343,011 aftermarket defeat products, which are created to bypass emission-related design elements to enhance a vehicle’s power or improve its fuel economy, the government told the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
