DuPont Reaches Superfund Settlement in Suit Over Texas Complex

E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. and The Chemours Co. agreed to pay for the costs of restoring wetlands damaged by hazardous substances released from a Texas industrial complex, according to a settlement filed in a Texas federal court.

The settlement comes in response to a Superfund suit filed against the companies over operations linked to the DuPont Beaumont Works Industrial Park Complex in Nederland, Texas.

DuPont produced plastics and other synthetics at the site, and disposed of lead, arsenic, and other substances. Chemours became owner of the site in 2015.
