DuPont, Chemours Avoid Suez Water PFAS Contamination Claims

E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. and the Chemours Co. can escape a water company’s lawsuit over PFAS contamination in New York because the company didn’t say specifically how they caused the release of the substances, a federal judge ruled.

Suez Water New York sued to recover the costs of cleaning up contamination detected in its wells and water systems in Rockland County, N.Y. The companies were manufacturers, sellers, and distributors of products containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS, the lawsuit said.
