DuPont, Chemours, and Corteva are offering up to $875 Million to settle the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s allegations about contamination from PFAS and other chemicals.
That money, plus remediation assurance funds the companies must provide to insure the four sites covered by the proposed settlement are cleaned up to the state’s satisfaction, means the agreement is valued at over $2 billion, said DEP Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette in a press briefing Monday.
It’s “the largest environmental settlement by a single state ever,” said New Jersey Democratic Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin in a video statement.
