Duke Energy Faces New Climate Fraud Suit in North Carolina (1)

Major southern utility company Duke Energy Corp. is the latest energy giant to face new climate litigation over alleged deception centered around fossil fuel contributions to global warming.

The Town of Carrboro, N.C., filed a complaint on Wednesday at the Orange County Superior Court in Hillsborough, targeting the massive electric and national gas company based in Charlotte, N.C.

The lawsuit is an “incredible opportunity” to quash “corporate deception and enter a new era for Carrboro,” Mayor Pro Tem Danny Nowell said in a statement.
