Drought Response, Solar Energy Top Middle East Agenda in 2018

A fifth consecutive winter of drought is putting the focus on sustainability across the Middle East as food and water security are increasingly a concern amid refugee crises. The prolonged drought could lead to new restrictions on water usage, driving up prices and driving agricultural changes across the region. The drought also comes at a time when the oil rich region, particularly Saudi Arabia, is looking at more renewable ways to meet its energy demands.
