Donziger Disbarred in N.Y. Over Fraudulent Ecuadorian Judgment

An attorney who a federal appeals court found used coercion, fraud, and bribery to win an $8.6 billion award against Chevron Corp. for pollution of the Amazon rain forest will now be disbarred in New York.

An Ecuadorian court in 2011 ordered Chevron to pay compensatory and punitive damages for its subsidiary Texaco Inc.'s dumping of toxic drilling wastes in the jungle from 1964 to about 1992.
