The Department of Energy is announcing on Monday $90 million in funding to help states, cities, tribes, and other organizations implement updated building codes.
DOE is especially hoping for applications from “high-impact states with a lot of construction volume,” along with rural communities and tribal governments, an agency official said.
The funding comes as part of a $225 million program included in the 2021 infrastructure law. DOE has said that modernizing energy codes is one of the most cost-effective ways of improving energy efficiency in homes and businesses.
