DOE Must Dig Deeper for Records on Trump Climate Change Inquiry

The Department of Energy didn’t search widely enough for documents regarding how it handled questions from the Trump administration about employees who attended climate change meetings, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia said Sept. 17.

The search was conducted in response to a Freedom of Information Act request but didn’t dig deep enough, the opinion by Judge Timothy J. Kelly said. Nevertheless, the search terms the agency used to locate relevant documents were adequate, the opinion said.
