Direct Energy Services LLC beat a consumer class action alleging that it hid information about its variable gas rates, after a federal judge in New York ruled that its contract materials clearly disclosed the rates.
Richard Schafer sued the electricity and natural gas provider in 2019, alleging that his contract failed to clearly show he would be charged a variable rate upon renewal, and that he kept Direct Energy as his gas supplier as a result.
