Diesel Trucks to Get Smog Checks in California

Large diesel trucks operating in California will have to undergo emissions tests similar to those required for cars.

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed SB210 Sept. 20 that orders the state Air Resources Board to develop an inspection and testing program for non-gasoline trucks weighing more than 14,000 pounds.

The program will help identify some of the worst-polluting trucks in California and over 10 years would remove the equivalent of 375,000 trucks from the road.
