Democratic, GOP Energy Regulator Picks Advance Toward Nomination

Senators approved two picks on Wednesday for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Allison Clements and Mark Christie, moving the agency closer to a full five-person roster.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee advanced Clements and Christie on a voice vote. Republican Sens. John Barrasso (Wyo.), Steve Daines (Mont.), John Hoeven (N.D.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (Miss.), and Mike Lee (Utah) were recorded as opposing Clements, the Democratic nominee. Senator Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) went on the record opposing Christie, the Republican.
