Power Performance Enterprises Inc. and Kory Willis, its president and owner, agreed to pay a total of $3.1 million in criminal fines and civil penalties for alleged violations of the Clean Air Act, according to a Tuesday news release.
PPEI and Willis were known from 2009 until 2019 for “custom delete tunes,” a software allowing a truck that has had emissions controls removed or disabled to appear to run normally, according to the Department of Justice. The software can cause a diesel truck’s emissions to increase dramatically.
