Delaying EPA Power Plant Discharge Limits Sparks Debate

Power plants want the EPA to delay their deadline for meeting new discharge limits on toxics in wastewater, saying they need more time to plan, construct, and test controls.

Environmental groups counter that the Clean Water Act does not provide for such a delay.

The two sides made their views known in comments due July 6 on an EPA proposal to extend the deadline.
