The EPA anticipates publishing an amended rule restricting a flame retardant once commonly used in televisions next year—more than two years from the deadline set by the 2016 Toxic Substances Control Act amendments.
The Environmental Protection Agency asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to let the agency revise a final January 2021 regulation restricting decabromodiphenyl ether, or decaBDE. The agency’s remand motion said it intends to propose an amended rule in the spring of 2023.
