Delaware Commission OKs Withdrawals, Discharges by Nuclear Power Plant

PHILADELPHIA—The Delaware River Basin Commission has approved a number of changes in the limits and conditions that apply to water withdrawals from and discharges to the Schuylkill River and Perkiomen Creek by Exelon Generation Co. LLC’s nuclear power plant in Limerick, Pa.

The Schuylkill River and Perkiomen Creek supply water for the cooling towers at Exelon’s Limerick Generating Station, which has two generating units 30 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

The limits approved May 8 by the commission cap daily water withdrawals at 58.2 million gallons per day (mgd), up from 56.2 mgd previously. The limit on total monthly water withdrawals ...
