Defense Dept Enters Deals to Expand Lithium, Nickel Production

The Defense Department has entered a $90 million agreement with Albemarle Corporation to support the expansion of domestic mining and production of lithium, according to statement.

• Agreement will support Albemarle’s re-opening of Kings Mountain, N.C. lithium mine to increase domestic production of lithium for the US battery supply chain, department says
• Defense Dept also announced a $20.6 million agreement with Talon Nickel, LLC to advance nickel exploration and mineral resource definition of the Tamarack Intrusive Complex
