COPENHAGEN—Following several media reports on the presence of the chemical bisphenol A in store receipts, Denmark’s Environmental Protection Agency (MST) said Nov. 12 that it will investigate whether the receipts could be hazardous to peoples’ health.
Depending on its findings, the Danish investigation could result in new guidelines for the handling of receipts and other thermal paper products containing BPA. Thermal paper changes color when exposed to heat, thus dispensing with the need for ink.
